Celery Top Pine is a common conifer tree from the cooler temperate forests of Tasmania. The softwood timber has tight growth rings giving it exceptional strength and hardness.

In aeromodelling, Celery Top Pine will be best for wing spars and as an alternative to Sitka Spruce with similar consistent flexural strength and slightly harder and heavier properties. The straight grain and good selection give this timber excellent structural properties. This timber is clean and blonde and will "golden up" with age and sunlight. When sanded you will find the hardness makes for an extra smooth surface. We use high speed saw blades that leave a smooth and un-burnished finish. These are the more popular and common sizes; however, we can supply other sizes on demand.

as a modeler that only flies what i build,good material is essential, ive never had a reason to question your quality wood, as spruce is no longer available celery pine an excellent replacement ,light strong glues well .like your store people too

Latest subject wood seems much heavier than previous deliveries , despite it being thicker section. One thing’s for sure , it’s strength will be more than adequate…

I haven't put the celery top pine to good use yet, but found each piece to be straight and have no flaws, I tested some pieces by bending each way, no breaks so should be good in my spitfire wing build.

Not a Twist

I have purchased Spruce and Pine from other suppliers with over 1/2 of these pieces badly twisted so quality control is very lax. This order from BC was perfect. Very well cut and not a twist in sight.

Great service

The three bundles of material( one package) arrived one week after ordering. The package was in excellent condition. The balsa is of excellent quality- good grain and true. The celery top pine also has good long grain and was generally reasonably true. I had to resize it to plan specifications and it came up very well. Will buy again for my next model.

Celery top pine strips

Having not used this type hard wood before, I took a gamble on it! Superb stuff, nice and straight with good strength and flexibility. These strips are being used as spar tops in a large scale tow plane with a dle120cc engine. Very happy with the materials supplied yet again by balsa central.

Top quality well packaged

Good straight grained pine, good smooth, accurate finish. Came very well packaged along with some 0.4mm ply taped and bubble wrapped to a sheet of 'reject' 2mm ply for protection in transit. The protective 2mm ply had a minor flaw but will be most useful, thank you!

The celery Top Pine seems to be top quality although I haven't got to use it yet.
I 've been using your balsa though and it is of great quality. Straight and consistent right through,
which makes it a lot easier to sand evenly....Dave
