Celery Top Pine is a common conifer tree from the cooler temperate forests of Tasmania. The softwood timber has tight growth rings giving it exceptional strength and hardness.

In aeromodelling, Celery Top Pine will be best for wing spars and as an alternative to Sitka Spruce with similar consistent flexural strength and slightly harder and heavier properties. The straight grain and good selection give this timber excellent structural properties. This timber is clean and blonde and will "golden up" with age and sunlight. When sanded you will find the hardness makes for an extra smooth surface. We use high speed saw blades that leave a smooth and un-burnished finish. These are the more popular and common sizes; however, we can supply other sizes on demand.

* We try our hardest to make shipping as affordable as possible, but shipping rates for items over 1 meter in length attract an over-size surcharge that we are unfortunately unable to cover.

Celery top pine

Latest subject wood seems much heavier than previous deliveries , despite it being thicker section. One thing’s for sure , it’s strength will be more than adequate…

The Celery Top Pine does have a variety of densities, Graeme. Good luck with your build and we hope to see a photo or two when completed! - Peter

Celery Top Pine

Nice straight grain, good strength, and will make a great main spar

Hi David. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? The Celery Top Pine is a timber we discovered when Sitka Spruce was in short supply and has become a staple for aeromodellers ever since. Good luck with your project and thank you for your review. - Peter
