Pacific Balsa Model Aircraft Dope 50ml

When covering an aircraft with a tissue product to ensure it is strong and tight, apply fast-drying nitrocellulose lacquer, also known as aircraft dope. The proper term for dope is nitrocellulose lacquer. This product is used as a clear, shrinking liquid to tighten model aircraft tissue and provide a waterproof, lustrous finish for balsa wood models. It can also be applied directly to balsa wood to enhance its durability.

However, it's important to note that dope contains volatile chemicals, so it should only be used away from open flames and in a well-ventilated area. Often, dope straight from the can may be too thick for effective use. A common practice is to dilute it by mixing approximately two parts dope thinner (acetone) with one part dope. While thicker dope can build up faster, it does not penetrate the wood effectively and tends to be applied unevenly.
